Sodium thiosulfate, commonly known as hyperbole or baking soda. Soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, with reducibility, it is a common thiosulfate. Five crystal water can be obtained to transform into colorless monoclinic crystals, namely sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate with a molecular weight of 248.18. Sodium thiosulfate is one of the essential drugs announced by the World Health Organization for specific detoxification. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of sodium thiosulfate to prevent hearing loss in pediatric patients with locally non metastatic solid tumors caused by cisplatin chemotherapy. In addition, sodium thiosulfate has a wide range of applications in wastewater treatment, analytical chemistry, and metal mineral treatment.

Production methord:Add 1.1 molar equivalents of elemental sulfur and 0.00013 molar equivalents of hexadecylpyridine chloride (CPC) to a 1.0 molar equivalent aqueous solution of sodium sulfite, and react at 90 ° C for 3 hours.
Then let it stand at<2 ºC for at least 0.5 hours, and then transfer it in batches to a filtration dryer for filtration. Wash the filter residue twice with acetone and filter it, then dry it overnight at 45 ºC to obtain sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate crystals
